Notifications are set through what we call “Alerts”. The idea is that you set a number of Alerts to notify you whenever a specific pattern is identified on your data points.

Alerts for over/under energy use for specific time period or days can be set through our 'Custom Alerts' feature. They allow you to be alerted when specific thresholds are met under various conditions.

For more dynamic alerts based on abnormal consumption patterns detected by our our Sentinel Trends feature, the “Sentinel Alerts” are what you need.

To navigate to the Notification settings tool go to the 'bell' icon as shown below.

Figure 1.

Here, you will see a full overview of the different types of alerts available in the notification settings tool. These features include Sentinel Alerts, PUE Threshold Alerts, Custom Alerts and Offline Notifications. All seen on the left hand side of the image below.

Sentinel Alerts

Sentinel Alerts is based off of our Sentinel Trends tool. Sentinel is a smart software engine that predicts what your energy use should be at any point of time for all your circuits, and that continuously compares your real energy use against the predicted one to discover unusual energy performance.

Sentinel Alerts notifies you when the Sentinel Trends tool picks up an abnormality. These abnormalities can be customised as seen in the drop down menu of the image below.

To create a new notification just click 'new alert' in the top right corner of the page and start to customise your alert. You can receive the notification in a number of different ways, including on your dashboard home page as seen in figure 4, via sms and via email. To learn how to set up sms notifications please follow to here.

Q's related to Sentinel Alerts

Can I generate reports for notifications?

Yes, It is possible to generate a report with all the sentinel notifications. You can do this from Admin > Reports Definitions > Sentinel Notifications.

Can I set up SMS notifications?

Yes, we actually have a walkthrough on how to set this up here.

PUE Threshold Alerts

These alerts are mostly useful for data centres to monitor and limit their non-computing energy consumption.

Custom Alerts

Figure 5.

A custom alert can be created to monitor the behaviour of a particular circuit. If we choose ‘value against threshold’, we can set the parameter for the notification, the threshold value, the number of consecutive readings needed to trigger the notification, and the days and times when the alert is enabled.

Figure 6.

If we choose ‘accumulated so far against threshold’, we can specify whether to track

energy in kilowatt hours or cost in the local currency and indicate the period of accumulation, the threshold, and the alert timing. Custom alerts can be made for any numerical data in the system, including gas, water, air quality, CO2, and production.

Offline Notifications

Figure 7.

Offline notifications will alert you when no data is being received by the AiElements dashboard for a certain point. This could indicate a problem with data transmission or the meter itself. Multiple circuits can be included in the alert by selecting or deselecting the point on the left.

Figure 8.

By choosing the site, all monitored points under that site are included in the notification. You can change the amount of time offline needed to trigger an email by clicking on the drop-down list.
